EUROTECH RENEWABLES & GEOFIT

Designing, supplying, and installing a heat pump system for heating an existing swimming pool, including the necessary remedial works and integration with the existing heating system, can be a complex task. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the process:

GEOTHERMAL SYSTEM – Initial Assessment:

Conduct a thorough assessment of the existing swimming pool and heating system to determine the specific requirements, including the pool size, desired water temperature, existing equipment, and available space for installation.

GEOTHERMAL SYSTEM – System Design:

Based on the assessment, design a heat pump system that meets the heating requirements of the swimming pool. The design should include the heat pump unit, buffer tank, geothermal ground manifolds, earth probes, collector piping, and distribution pipework.

GEOTHERMAL SYSTEM – Separating Pool Exchanger:

Identify the necessary remedial works to separate the pool exchanger from the existing heating system. This may involve installing valves, bypass lines, and isolation mechanisms to ensure independent operation.

Geothermal Ground Manifolds and Earth Probes

Install the geothermal ground manifolds and connect them to the pre-fitted geothermal earth probes. The number of probes will depend on the design and requirements of the system.

Geothermal Ground Manifolds and Earth Probes

Install the geothermal ground manifolds and connect them to the pre-fitted geothermal earth probes. The number of probes will depend on the design and requirements of the system.

Geothermal Collector Piping:

Connect the external geothermal manifolds to the internal heat pump in the Alice Perry plant room using geothermal collector piping. This ensures the transfer of heat from the ground to the heat pump.

Geothermal Heat Pump and Buffer Tank Installation:

Install the heat pump unit and buffer tank, ensuring proper interconnection between them. This includes integrating a modulating collector pump to maintain the required flow rate across the evaporator.

Geothermal – Distribution Pipework:

Connect the distribution pipework, including the primary pump, from the new buffer tank to link with the existing district heating pipework. This allows the heat to be distributed to the swimming pool.

Geothermal – Distribution Building Management System (BMS):

Wire the entire system according to the design details, ensuring proper connections between the heat pump, valves, and pump. Incorporate the existing Building Management System (BMS) to control the geothermal system, following the requirements specified by the college software provider.

Geothermal SYSTEM – Testing and Commissioning:

Test the entire system to ensure proper functionality and performance. This includes checking the heating capacity, flow rates, temperature differentials, and control system operation.

Geothermal SYSTEM – User Training and Handover:

Provide training to the relevant personnel on how to operate and maintain the heat pump system. Complete the handover process by providing all necessary documentation, including operation manuals, warranties, and maintenance schedules.
